Prescribed Burning on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation

Prescribed burns from Fort Apache Indian Reservation will continue over the next few week depending on favorable weather conditions. Approximately 11,500 acres are targeted to be treated by either pile burning or broadcast burning within several burn units on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Smoke will be visible from Holbrook southward with smoke settling in low lying areas in the mornings. Drivers should pay extra attention while traveling through or adjacent to burn areas particularly along highway 73 from Post Office Canyon to Hon-dah and State Route 260 east of Hon-dah.
