Navajo County Flood Update 7/23/2021

NAVAJO COUNTY FLOODING AND ROAD CONDITIONS UPDATE as of Friday July 23, 2021

Most affected areas:

  • White Mountain Lakes area
  • Linden
  • Lakeside
  • Heber

Road Closures:

  • Silver Creek Drive between Daggs Street and Summer Place
  • Silver Creek Blvd. @ Silver Creek
  • Flooded Road warning signs on Bourdon Ranch Road near Hatchery – road is passable but motorists need to go slow

Access to residential areas are open from White Mountain Lake Blvd to the closure, and from Bourdon Ranch Road on the east to the closure.

Sandbag Operations:

There are sandbags staged throughout the region should you need them to protect your property. Please bring your own shovel and be prepared to fill the sandbags at the majority of the locations. The sandbag supplies are located at:

  • The Navajo County Mogollon Complex in Heber – 2188 Country Club Drive
  • Behind the Heber-Overgaard Fire Station – 2061 Lumber Valley Road
  • 1281 E. Thornton in Show Low near the former Pet Allies location
  • Round Valley Road Yard -Junction of HWY 191 and US-180
  • St Johns Road Yard -CR 6007
  • Vernon Fire District -25 ACR 3142, Vernon, AZ 85940
  • Pinetop area at Mountain Meadow Recreation Park, 1001 S. Woodland Road.

Access to residential areas are open from White Mountain Lake Blvd to the closure, and from Bourdon Ranch Road on the east to the closure.

Our Public Works crew is working in partnership with Navajo County Sheriff’s Office to clear debris on roads, control traffic, remove silt and blade washed out gravel roads.

For your safety, please never cross a roadway that has water flowing over it and stay away from areas that have the potential for flooding during heavy rains.

7/22/2021 Flash Flood Warning for Navajo County until 7p.m tonight

Flash Flood Warning for Navajo County in north central Arizona…Until 700 PM MST.

At 357 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in the Show Low region. Storms are moving southward through Show Low toward Pinetop-Lakeside. Between 0.75 and 2 inches of rain have fallen, with some gauges recording an inch of rain in 15 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…Show Low, Taylor, Linden, Wagon Wheel, Shumway, Pinedale, Pinetop-Lakeside, Fort Apache Reservation, Snowflake, Fool Hollow Lake Campground, White Mountain Lake, Scott Reservoir Campground, Lakeside Campground and Lewis Canyon Group Campground.This includes the following highways…State Route 77 between mile markers 343 and 359.State Route 260 between mile markers 327 and 350.Highway 60 between mile markers 334 and 351.
