NAVAJO COUNTY FLOODING AND ROAD CONDITIONS UPDATE

Snowflake/Taylor Area Report:

As of Sunday July 25, 6:30 PM.

Millet Swale Levee Breached, floodwaters dispersing into surrounding lands. All current evacuations still in place.

National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning in effect for the Snowflake/Taylor area until 11:15 PM, MDT. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order. View forecasts for your area on weather.gov/fgz

Pinedale (previous flooding)

White Mountain Lakes (previous flooding)

Road Closures:

Silver Creek Drive between Daggs Street and Summer Place

Silver Creek Blvd. @ Silver Creek

Farnsworth Crossing in Pinedale is closed but Mortenson is open.

Low water crossings at Cattle Ln and Willow Ln

REMOVAL OF OR INTERFERENCE WITH ROAD CLOSURE SIGNAGE IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE (ARS 28-649A) Do not remove road signs.

Sandbag Operations:

There are sandbags staged throughout the region should you need them to protect your property. Please bring your own shovel and be prepared to fill the sandbags at the majority of the locations. The sandbag supplies are located at:

Taylor Road Yard, 1121 W. Pinedale Rr. -currently out of sandbags

Our Public Works crew is working in partnership with Navajo County Sheriff’s Office to clear debris on roads, control traffic, remove silt and blade washed out gravel roads and driveways.

Evacuation Shelter Information.

A human shelter is currently operating out of the wrestling room in Holbrook High School: 455 N. 8th Ave, Holbrook, AZ 86025

A livestock shelter is currently being set up at the Navajo County Fairgrounds in Holbrook, AZ: 404 E Hopi Dr, Holbrook, AZ 86025

At this time, we are unable to accept smaller animals due to limited resources but will reevaluate in the near future.

Though we haven’t had widespread reports of power outages, remember to stock up on supplies in case of an outage and, if possible, report the outage to your local provider. APS outages can be reported online at APS.com/outagecenter

For your safety, never cross a roadway that has water flowing over it and stay away from areas that have the potential for flooding during heavy rains.
