SAINT JOHNS, AZ–  On Saturday, June 11, 2022, it became very clear there were communication failures across the White Mountains. Upon further investigation and contact with our state partners, we have been informed that there was a Frontier failure. The reason that Verizon service is also down is because Frontier provides the backhaul for the Verizon phone system.

Frontier has investigated and found damaged fiber lines. They worked to replace the fiber, but upon completion, it was discovered that another section of fiber had been damaged. Frontier is sending personnel out again to repair the fiber.

All residents, regardless of service provider are still able to contact 911 in case of an emergency. Please ONLY call 911 if there is an emergency.

At this time, there is no estimated time of service restoration, but all updates will be put on 311info.net and our Apache County Emergency Management Facebook page.
