Verizon Service Disruption

1/6/2015 – Due to a cut fiber optic cable, Verizon Cellular service is currently not functioning. The outage area begins just south of Holbrook and continues south into the Show Low, Pinetop areas. Crews are on the way to repair the problem and have estimated that it will be approximately 4 hours.

Winter Storm Warning is in Effect

12/31/14 – A Winter Storm Warning is ineffect for all counties in northern Arizona today through Thursday afternoon for significant snow accumulations. Widespread snow will increase from west to east across northern Arizona on Wednesday. The heaviest snowfall will form along a broad precipitation band moving ahead of the low center.

This is a very cold winter storm with snow falling to the lowest elevation areas by Wednesday night. Winter driving conditions will develop on New Years Eve and continue through New Years Day.

Expect significant snow accumulations through Thursday as a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect. Cold Temperatures will continue through Friday keeping the snow from melting. Slick and icy road conditions will linger on unplowed rural roadways.

Storm total snowfall accumulation ranges for this event:
Roughly 2 to 6 inches for elevations between 3000 and 5000 feet.
Roughly 6 to 15 inches between 5000 to 8000 feet.
Mountain slopes above 8000 feet may see 15 to 20 inches of snowfall.

Winter Weather Ahead

12/30/14 – The winter season can make for dangerous driving conditions. Starting tomorrow and into Thursday and maybe even Friday a winter storm with spread snow throughout Northeastern Arizona. Snow accumulations will vary between 2 to 6 inches below 6000 and 6-12 inches above 6000 feet.

Driving will be heavily impacted in areas due to heavy snow with limited visibility. Dangerous winter driving conditions will impact all of northern Arizona on New Years Eve and New Years Day.
