Springerville, Ariz., June 30, 2015, For Immediate Release — The Alder fire has experienced no significant change in fire behavior and burnout operations were successful as was the established fireline that is holding to the north. Yesterday some areas of the fire received small amounts of moisture. Management of the fire will continue as long as conditions meet fire managers’ objectives.
ALDER FIRE UPDATE
Start Date: June 25, 2015
Acres Treated: 320 acres

Location: East Chevelon Canyons, approximately 13 miles northwest of the community
of Forest Lakes and located in Coconino County, east of Forest Service Road (FSR) 34, and west of FSR 169 on Sand Point.

Behavior: Fire behavior continues to smolder and creep along the ground through
grass and brush.

Smoke: Smoke may be visible from Arizona State Highway 260 and as far north as I-40, near Winslow, AZ.

Weather Forecast: Partly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms through the week.

Closures: There are no road closures due to this fire.
Today’s Management Actions: The fire will continue to be monitored and the dozer/hand line established to the north is holding.
