11/19/2013 – An unsettled period of wet and much colder weather is expected from Wednesday through Sunday. Rainfall amounts could exceed one half inch Friday for areas along the Mogollon Rim. Snow Levels should remain generally above 7500 feet until Friday. On Friday Night snow levels should fall to lower elevations for much of the area along and north of the Mogollon Rim. Amounts are uncertain at this time but poor travel conditions are probable.
Have you prepared your home and vehicle for winter? Below are a few things to do to get ready for the onset of the winter months.
* pick up supplies like shovels, ◦Rock salt or more environmentally safe products to melt ice on walkways, sufficient heating fuel, and check and replenish your ready kit and first aid suppleis.
*Test generator(s) and make sure there is pleanty of fuel.
*Check pipes to make sure they are properly insulated and locate the turn off valves just in case of a pipe break. Some valves require special tools that can be purchased at most hardware or homecare stores.
*If you must travel in bad weather make sure to pack extra food, water and warm clothing/blankets. A few other items you may want to put in your vehicle include sand for traction, flares, first aid kit and make sure your cell phone is completely charged.
