All departments within Navajo County Government are experiencing technical difficulties and do not have phone or email access. Technicians are working to have systems restored by this afternoon. Cold Weather On The Way!
11/14/14 – The coldest air of the season so far is expected to arrive on Sunday morning behind a strong cold front. High temperatures on Sunday will range from 10-15 degrees below average along and northeast of the Mogollon Rim and Kaibab Plateau. North winds gusting to near 30 MPH will result in wind chill temperatures in the 20’s and 30’s during the daytime. In addition, well below average low temperatures are forecast Monday and Tuesday mornings.
Prescribed Burns Taking Place Again This Week
11/4/14 – The Springerville Ranger District is doing a prescribed burn today in Greer at Bradshack Knoll which is near the Pole Knoll area. The Lakeside Ranger District is also doing a prescribed burn in the Los Burros area.
Additionally the Fort Apache Indian Reservation will be conducting prescribed burns in the following areas
Hondah Burn Unit – East of the Smoke Shop and south of Cooley Mountain
Corduroy Burn Unit – Near Amos Mountain and Big Mountain
Coyote West Burn Unit – Northern Boundary of Unit
Turkey Creek Burn Unit – KL Ranch Area
Sevenmile Burn Unit Horse Mesa and Grindstone area
Lame Deer Burn Unit – South of Hawley Lake
Soldier Butte Unit – Northern Boundary of Unit
Beaver Burn Unit – Western Boundary of Unit
Smoke from these fires may be visible during daylight hours and may also settle into lower valleys at night. Use caution when driving through the areas listed to reduce potential accidents.
