Sheriff’s Office Seeking Information

G. Barnes2/29/16 – Navajo County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding a shooting that occurred today’s date at approximately 9:45 a.m. near Garibaldi Road which is located east of Snowflake. The investigative lead is Gabriel Barnes a white male with red hair, full beard, blue eyes and is 6’01”, 150 pounds with multiple tattoos. Mr. Barnes who was last seen wearing camouflage attire and is considered armed was last seen walking south toward Concho Highway this morning. If you see this individual do NOT attempt to detain! Frontier Communications Planned Outage February 11, 2016

Frontier Communications is planning on taking down internet service on February 11th beginning at 12:01 A. M. for a period of two to three hours.
After completion of the work activity all services should restore in a normal fashion. All customers are advised to leave their equipment in its current
configuration and not reset or attempt to reboot their service. “ This work activity is preplanned for upgrading our service for all Frontier customers in the White Mountains area.

Wind, Ice and Snow on Highways

2/1/16 – The National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect for today. A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for the White Mountains. Several schools have either delays or closures due to snow and ice.

Please use extreme caution if you must travel throughout the region today. Rain and snow will be heavy at times and will continue through this afternoon. Southwest winds gust up to 40 MPH combined with snowfall will cause occasional whiteout conditions. Snow levels to fall to around 3000 feet by this afternoon with snow accumulating above 4000.

The following schools have announced closures and delays for Monday, Feb. 1:

Vernon, Concho, Whiteriver, Heber-Overgaard, Blue Ridge, White Mountain Montessori and Sequoia Village have canceled classes.

Show Low, St. Anthony, McNary, Theodore Roosevelt and Northern Arizona Academy are on a two-hour delay.

Round Valley is on a two-hour delay with no out-of-town travel for NAVIT.

Mountain Christian is on a one-hour delay.

Jefferson Academy on time.
