R-14 Fires near Cedar Creek
Several road side fires were started along Highway 73 between Canyon Day and Cedar Creek on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. The fire is burning in a Pinyon Juniper Forest Type. The fire is estimated to be about 400 acres. Numerous resources are currently on the fire along with heavy air tankers . A fire investigator has been ordered to investigate the fire.
Highway 73 from Canyon Day to Carrizo Junction is closed until further noticed. More information will be forthcoming.
A pre-evacuation notice for the residents of Cedar Creek has been issued. This means that Residents need to be on stand-by in the event of an evacuation is ordered.

Fire near Cedar Creek on Fort Apache Agency was reported early this afternoon. Initial reports estimate 30+ acres. Fire crews are on scene and heavy air tankers have been ordered. Cause of fire is unknown at this time. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Northeast Arizona Enters into Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

6/14/17 5:00 – Agencies throughout northeastern Arizona including Apache County, Navajo County, State Forests and Apache Sitgreaves National Forest as well as many cities and towns in both counties, will all be entering into Stage 1 fire restrictions as of Friday, June 16th at 8:00.

While we all have very similar restrictions in place please make sure to “Know BEFORE you go!” by checking with the appropriate jurisdiction for specific restriction information. Wildcat Fire Burning Near Heber – Final

Correction: fire was burning off 178 road 2-3 miles north of SR 260 and fire crews are in the mop up stages. This is the final update and cause remains under investigation.

Fire size up 3-4 acres dozers on scene lining the fire, air attack scheduled at 2:30 pm.

A fire 8 miles west of Heber has been reported by the Forest Service. The fire is burning on both sides of SR 260 and Forest Service Road 178. The fire is currently sized up at 20 acres and fire crews and Navajo County Sheriff’s Officers are on scene. More information will be posted as it becomes available. Cause of fire is unknown at this time.
