****Cedar Fire Update ****

6/22/16 – 8:00 – The fire remains at 42,802 acres but has improved to 24% containment. A containment line now exists on the south side of the fire and north of the Cedar Creek Community.
Fire activity was limited today, but the primary activity occurred on the east side of the fire within the steep canyons. With the direction of the wind out of the west, several embers were able to cross the 33 road, but they were suppressed by fire crews and helicopters. As of this time, no spot fires have become established across the 33 Road.
Fire crews will keep working to fortify the eastern flank of the blaze throughout the night. Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, McNary, Hon-Dah and Cedar Creek remain in pre-evacuation status.
US Hwy 60 remains closed, but access to Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, McNary and Hon-Dah can still be accomplished through an approximately 20 minute detour through Hwy 73. State Route 260 also remains open to access northern communities.

  1. Is there a current map of the activity of the fire, or just the ones from yesterday? Thank you for your continued efforts to protect our community.
