Holbrook, AZ- The White Mountain Fire Coordinating group met early this week
to discuss current conditions of the forest as well as the surrounding communities and have made the
decision to enter into Stage
1 fire restrictions. During the meeting, it was discussed that over the past
week, the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest had multiple abandoned campfires. It was also
observed that weather conditions are continuing to become warmer
and drier. It was also decided
that it is time for the White Mountain area to enter into Fire Restrictions. The following actions were determined:
- The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest will enter Stage 1 Fire Restrictions beginning Thursday, May 5th, 2022.
- State Trust lands and BLM will enter Stage 1 Fire Restrictions beginning Thursday, May 5th, 2022.
- Both Navajo and Apache County will be holding Board of Supervisors meetings this week for approval to enter Stage 1 Fire Restrictions beginning no later than Friday, May 6th, 2022.
- Fort Apache will remain in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions as they are in them year-round.
Please remember, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions laws and rules apply to EVERYONE. Though Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are similar across each jurisdiction, we recommend that everyone reviews the restrictions ahead of time- Know Before You Go!
