Heber-Overgaard Fire and Forest Service units responded to a brush fire ignited this weekend by ‘cold’ embers. All visitors to our forests are reminded to bring shovels and extra water to use to extinguish fires. Remember: if its to hot to touch its too hot to leave! Before lighting any fire always check with the local fire department to verify conditions are acceptable for burning.

Winds have Largely Decreased below critical levels as of 4 PM MST and the Red Flag Warning has been canceled. Localized gusty northeast winds may continue into this evening just southeast of the mogollon rim but wind speeds are largely expected to remain below Red Flag Levels.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon for strong winds and low relative humidity. Northeast winds 15 to 25 MPH with gusts reaching up to 40 MPH.
