6/18/14 12:00 – The DeHose Fire doubled in size overnight. Yesterday fire crews worked on building line around the perimeter of the fire. Fire behavior is mainly active on the ridge tops in the brush, grass and the dead and down fuels. The Retardant line did not hold on the north flank of the fire as the fire was active throughout the night. Today, air support is on the fire and a dozer will work on an old dozer line to build indirect line.
Closures/Restrictions: Modified Fire Restrictions are in effect on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Campfires, charcoal-burning devices are prohibited during the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Debris burning is prohibited until further notices. Power saws are not allowed to be used during the hours of 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM for any wood cutting or thinning activity.
The DeHose Fire is a reminder how dry the forest is and how any little spark can start a major wildfire.

6/18/14 8:00 – A low pressure system and trough will move east of the region with lower wind speeds today out of the southwest. Wind speeds will be around 15 to 25 mph and gust around 40 mph are extpected this afternoon. Warm and dry weather with lighter winds are forecast through Monday.

Fire Activity: The DeHose Fire was detected late Monday evening. The fire is estimated to be about 40 acres and is located within the Rodeo-Chediski burn area about 4 miles east of Cibecue along Cibecue Ridge. Fire Crews are working on hand line and securing the flanks of the fire. Weather is a main concern as red flag conditions are in effect for the Fort Apache Indian Reservation with high winds and low relative humidity forecasted until 9:00 PM today.
