December 12, 2012: NWS Has Issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Apache and Navajo Counties Beginning at Midnight Thursday Night

Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight Thursday night to noon Friday for elevations above 7000 feet.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of falling snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery
roads and limited visibilities.

Plan extra time for travel… and use caution while driving. Take emergency travel supplies including winter clothing… food… water
and a flashlight.

December 11, 12: Winter Weather Forecast for Apache and Navajo Counties Over The Weekend.

Thursday and Friday… A low pressure system will move through Northern Arizona producing widespread rain and snow starting in Western Arizona on Thursday morning then spreading eastward through the afternoon and overnight periods.

Snow levels will fall from around 7000 feet on Thursday morning to around 4500 feet by Friday morning.  Northeastern Arizona will see 1 to 3 inches of snowfall above 6000 feet.

Storm impacts… much colder temperatures…The peak snowfall will occur from Thursday around sunset to Friday at sunrise.  Expect hazardous winter driving conditions during this time period.

Little Colorado River Valley in Navajo County

White Mountains
