Prescribed Burn

For your information:

The Springerville Ranger District is going to be having a prescribed burn today, August 14, 2018,  located south of Vernon and east of the 404. They are planning on burning about 200 acres. Please also know that smoke and haziness is possible in the surrounding areas.

Monsoon Season is in Full Swing

I’m sure you have noticed the rain that we have received lately. A downside to the rains are the flooding that they can cause. Please take extra precautions when flooding is present. Turn around, don’t drown!

Please note that HW 191 between St. Johns and Sanders is experiencing some flooding in areas. Please watch for signs and workers on the roadways.

Fire Restrictions NOT Lifted

We wanted to let everyone know that even though we have received some rainfall, there are not going to be any changes in the fire restrictions any time soon. The chances for a catastrophic wildfire are still present. It is going to take more than a few scatted showers for us to be in a position to lift those restrictions. So please note that Stage 3 Fire restrictions are still in effect in the unincorporated areas of Apache and Navajo County.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
