Smoke impact update from Arizona fires.

Majority of fire activity will be from interior burning. Due to continued dry and warm weather and breezy southwest winds, fire activity and smoke production could increase. At night, continued creeping, smoldering, and backing can be expected.

Smoke
Morning satellite imagery shows lighter smoke off the Coldwater Fire and a large smoke column from the Woodbury Fire east of Phoenix. That smoke is moving toward the northeast. This additional smoke from the Woodbury will continue to increase smoke along the I40 communities and also for locations around Show Low. The increased smoke will cause decreasing air quality through Saturday, but only Moderate air is possible. In the morning for Winslow, Holbrook, and Show Low, brief Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups is possible, improving by 9am.

Transportation
Smoke could be dense at the intersection of State Highway 87 and Lake Mary Road or Forest Service Road 3 each morning between approximately 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Smoke from the Coldwater and other fires in the area could collect each morning in drainages along I40. Watch for reduced visibility at times, especially along the Little Colorado River.

Deer Fire Update
June 10, 2019
Deer Fire Info Line: (928) 333-3412

Incident Start Date: 5/28/2019

Cause: Lightning/Natural

Size: 1984 acres Containment: 40%
Incident Type: Wildfire

Total Personnel: 41 personnel, Black Mesa Hotshots & Fort Apache Crew

Current Situation: On May 28, 2019, Fire managers received a report of smoke in the vicinity of Campbell Blue drainage west of Luce Ranch. Due to safety concerns from the overabundance of snags from the 2011 Wallow Fire, as well as steep slopes, this naturally occurring low intensity fire is currently being monitored by both onsite crews as well as air resources. The lightening caused fire will continue consumption of unburned fuels within the perimeter.
Today’s Plan: Fire personnel will continue to focus on protection of Luce Ranch, power-lines and monitor the control lines. Construction of containment lines from Luce Ranch, west to FS Road 8882 is complete. Over the weekend, crews burned out along the 58H, 58, and 8882 roads. Today crews will continue burn out operations along the 8882 road and the handline down to Luce Ranch. These containment lines, once in place, allow for the safest monitoring and containment of the fire in its current state.
Smoky Conditions Remain in the Area: Smoke from the Deer Fire may be visible from Alpine, Arizona State Highway 191, south of Alpine and in the vicinity of Campbell Blue. Light smoke may continue to impact Campbell Blue and the Blue community.
Visitor Information: If you are sensitive to smoke, visit the Arizona Department of Health Services website at http://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/epidemiology-disease-control/extreme-weather/index.php#wildfires-home
