With the winds subdued the Interstate was able to reopen in both directions.
Interstate 40 has been closed by the Arizona Department of Transportation due to extremely hazardous driving conditions. The closure is both east and west bound lanes from milepost 219 (just east of Winona) to milepost 252 (Winslow). There is no estimated time to re-open the Interstate.
Wind speeds have been recorded as high as 66 MPH at Winslow. Driving may be difficult for high profile vehicles.
Stay tuned for more updates.
