Monsoonal Moisture returns for the Labor Day Weekend!

Friday through Sunday a trough will move across Arizona increasing coverage for rain showers and thunderstorms from south to north. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop and may continue through the overnight hours this weekend. The main threat will be from heavy rain and localized flash flooding.

For our citizens and visiters in the region please make sure to choose your campsites carefully and remember to avoid low lying areas. Even though we have monsoonal moisture it is NEVER acceptable to leave a campfire unattended. Monsoonal Moisture is in the Forecast for the weekend!

Deep monsoonal moisture is forecast to move north into the region during the weekend possibly lasting through Monday. Thunderstorm coverage is expected to increase with a threat of heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

People with outdoor plans this weekend should continue to monitor the latest forecasts. Please keep the following safety tips in mind for any outdoor activities.  Never set up camp in low lying areas that flood quickly during monsoon storms.
