12/6/2013 – Another cold front will cross Arizona this weekend. Southswest wind gusts to 40 MPH are expected Saturday afternoon and evening and will keep wind chill values in the teens and 20’s across the northland. Snow should develop across the Kaibab Plateau and Grand Canyon areas Saturday afternoon and a winter weather advisory is in effect.

Snowfall will spread eastward Saturday night with snow levels falling to valley floors in most locations by Sunday morning. Present indications are for 1 to 3 inches below 5000 feet, 3 to 6 inches above 5000 feet, and 4 to 6 inches between 5000 and 8000 feet and 6 to 10 inches above 8000 feet. Clearing conditions to move from west to east on Sunday.

Very cold high and low temperatures will continue through monday with high temperatures in the 20’s and 30’s across most of northern Arizona.

Preparedness tips for cold weather:

* make sure you have plenty of drinking water, non-parishable food items, can opener, batteries, medicines, pet supplies and warm clothes and blankets on hand

* make sure you have games, books, coloring items and things to keep busy with in case the power goes out

* make sure to winterize your vehicle with sand or kitty litter for traction, shovels, blankets, water and snacks

* don’t forget flashlights and extra batteries!

12/5/2013 – Lingering snow showers in the White Mountains should bring 1 to 2 inches of accumulation today. Areas of low clouds and fog are expected this morning along and north of the Mogollon Rim. Today high temperatures will be well below normal.

Starting Friday expect very cold high and low temperatures through Monday with temperatures in the 20’s and 30’s across much of Northern Arizona. Another storm system is expected this weekend and most location have a good chance of snow. Snow should develop across Western Arizona Saturday afternoon and spread Eastward Saturday night. Present indications are for 3 to 7 inches of snow above 5000 feet and 1 to 3 inches below 5000 feet. Clearing moves in from west to east on Sunday.

Prepardness tips:

* make sure you have plenty of heating fuel available, check chimneys, pipes or other heating sources to make sure they are functioning correctly

*learn how to use the shut-off valves in your home in case of a pipe break

*stock up on drinking water, food, warm clothing and blankets in case of power outage (don’t forget medication and supplies for pets!)

12/4/2013 – A cold front will continue to move through East Central Arizona this evening bringing gusty winds, much colder temperatures and snow showers. Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with higher amounts at the higher elevations of the White Mountains are Possible this evening and tonight. Expect slick roadways and reduced visibilites.

Expect very cold conditions Thursday and Friday with high temperatures in teh 20’s and 30’s across much of Northern Arizona. light showers will persist in the White Mountains. A second storm is expected this weekend and most locations have a chance of snow. High and low temperatures will remain well below normal through Tuesday.
