THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FLAGSTAFF HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST THIS EVENING.

* TIMING…WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO

THIS EVENING.

* WINDS…NORTH TO NORTHWEST 25 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45

MPH.

* IMPACTS…WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…

ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 TO 39 MPH…OR GUSTS FROM 40 TO 57 MPH…ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

Shhhh the Bald Eagles are Nesting!

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests have closed an area of the forest for the protection of nesting bald eagles. The area that is closed is at Show Low Lake and is marked by signes and includes all land and water within the designated area. The area is depicted on the inlcuded map and is described in Order No. 01-14-557 as:

“that area beginning at the Show Low Lake eastern shorline in T9N, R22E, section 10/15 boundary; easterly along section 10/15 boundary for 150 meters; southerly for 425 meters to the powerline; southwesterly along powerline to the Show Low Lake eastern shorline; northerly along the shorline to the T9N, R22E northerly section 10/15 boundary.”

The closure will be in effect from March 1 through August 31 in order to protect the nesting site noise which is likely to adversely affect the success of nesting and fledging bald eagles. To view a the entire order and a map of the closed area please click on the link below.
