Fire is approximately 15 acres, 3 air tankers enroute, making good progress with dozers on the flank. Apache County Deputies are with residents near the point of origin in case of a directional shift. Incident command is working to get a line around the fire by this evening.

5/3/14- A confirmed report of a fire in the Alpine area has crews responding from Alpine, Nutrioso, Eager, and Springerville. The exact size is unknown at this time but updates will be posted as the are received. The cause is also unknown at this time.

The outage was initially caused by catastrophic failure on a Century Link Ciena DWDM system in Albuquerque, NM.
Century Link Albuquerque rolled traffic to another equipment and restored Frontier Communications St. Michaels connectivity.
Frontier Communications St. Michaels Central Office will continue monitoring with Century Link throughout the day.
