5/17/14. 3:00- The Skunk Fire has increased to an estimate of 23,642 acres as of yesterday including fire growth and back burns. The fire continues to grow in a north westerly direction along Nantac Rim and easterly direction in Division Zulu passing Soldier Hole. A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect Sunday through Monday evening due to low relative humidity and high winds. Smoke from the Skunk fire may reach as far north as Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside and even Springerville.

Skunk Fire update
5/16/14 11:00 am – The Skunk Fire on the San Carlos Apache Reservation has grown to over 10,000 acres. The expected winds on Sunday may bring smoke up to PInetop-Lakeside and Show Low area. The fire is located 144 miles south of Show Low.

STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO 40 TO 50 MPH WILL AFFECT EASTERN ARIZONA AHEAD OF THE FRONT…AND A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM
9 AM TO 7 PM MST. A BRIEF PERIOD OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHERN YAVAPAI COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES TODAY WILL BE 10 TO
15 DEGREES COLDER THAN YESTERDAY.
