Hot and Extremely Dry and Windy

6/2/14 4:30 p.m. – Tuesday through Friday the hot and extremely dry air will remain in place across northern Arizona. The strongest winds and critical fire weather conditions will shift to northeastern Arizona with winds speeds of 20-25 and gusting up to 40 MPH. Wednesday through Friday expect continued hot and extremely dry conditions with breezy southwesterly winds with another round of critical fire weather conditions on Friday.

Stage 2 Restrictions Remain in Effect!!

5/23/14 3:00 – Throughout northeastern Arizona agencies have entered into Stage 2 Fire restrictions. These restrictions are due to many factors including but not limited to: forest conditions, availability of resources and forecasted weather. This Memorial Day weekend the National Weather Service has predicted chances of thunderstorms and small amounts of precipitation. All of our citizens and visitors are asked to keep in mind that this very minimal amount of rain will NOT give us the moisture required to lift the restrictions. Additionally the winds that will accompany these storms will quickly spread embers. Northern Arizona is several weeks away from monsoon season which typically relieves the dry conditions enough to lift restrictions.

At this time we invite our citizens and visitors to enjoy the beautiful country we have but to do so with safety as their number one priority. No fires of any kind are allowed during Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Devices that use LPG fuels (such as propane) and have an on and off switch are allowed to be used under Stage 2 as long as they are in a designated area barren of any debris. Everyone should know that law enforcement agencies through out the region will cite and if necessary arrest any violators of these restrictions with no warnings given.
