Fire Activity: The DeHose Fire continues to move in a northerly direction within the steep and rugged ridges and drainages within the Ponderosa Pine Stringers. Active backing fire behavior was observed in this north portion of the fire. The South end of the fire is secure and accounts for the percent contained. Yesterday, the helicopter was dropping water on the north portion of the fire as crews worked on handline and dozerline. Today, Crews will continue to patrol and mop up the south portion of the fire and will work on removing dead and down trees in the north east portion of the fire along Carrizo Creek. Fire crews will also continue to prepare for burn out operatons in the north portion of the fire.
Significant Events: The Incident Command Post is relocated to the Cibecue Day School. Smoke may be visible from the DeHose Fire mainly due to burn out operations. Area residents and visitors are urged to use caution while driving in the area as smoke can suddenly become thick and obscure visibility. Additionally, those who have respiratory issues should remain indoors and away from smoke saturated areas.
Closures/Restrictions: For Safety reasons, the public is asked not to drive on access roads near or around the Fire area. Modified Fire Restrictions are in effect on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Campfires, charcoal-burning devices are prohibited during the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Debris burning is prohibited until further notices. Power saws are not allowed to be used during the hours of 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM for any wood cutting or thinning activity.

Fire Activity: Overall, fire behavior has been moderate but active in the Ponderosa Pine Stringers within the drainages and ridges. Yesterday, the fire slopped over the retardant line on the northwest side of the fire.
Today, fire crews will hold and mop up on the North portion of the fire. The south east end of the fire is secure and holding. The helicopter will be doing bucket drops on the northwest portion of the fire. Fire crews are preparing for firing operations within the next day or so. Since the fire is located within a previously burned area, vegation surrounding the fire is sparse.
Significant Events: The Central West Zone – Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command over the fire at 6:00 AM this morning. A fire weather watch is expected today as extremely dry and low relative humidity conditons is forecasted for today.

6/20/14 10:00 – As the summer officially begins this weekend and beautiful weather forecasted we would like to remind all of our citizens and visitors that we are still in Stage 2 Fire Restrictions!

What that means is:
NO FIRES allowed! No charcoal, wood or coal fires!*
NO SMOKING!  (only in enclosed building or vehicle)
NO FIREWORKS! no tracer round ammunition or explosive targets.
NO vehicles permitted off of roads and trails!
NO internal comubstion engines except those with spark arrestors such as lawn mowers which must be used in a maintained landscaped area.
NO welding or aceltylene torch use unless it is in a designated area made especially for that purpose with appropriate fire protection.

*Devices that use LPG or propane fuels that can be turned off can be used in areas completely cleared of debris.
