6/26/14 – 5:35 – This fire is now contained and the highway has reopened to both lanes of traffic.

6/26/14 – 4:15 – Crews are mopping up the grass fire at this time and the highway is back open to one lane.

A 1 1/2 acre grass fire located on Hwy 60 at mp 337 has started. They have closed the highway in order to get containment on the fire from the air. Responding agencies are Linden Fire, Show Low Fire, BIA and US Forest Service.

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST TODAY BRINGING STRONGER WINDS…GUSTING TO 40 MPH…TO PORTIONS OF NORTHERN ARIZONA. IN ADDITION…VERY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE WITH THE STRONG WINDS TO CREATE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. A RED FLAG WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHERN ARIZONA TODAY

6/25/14 8:16 – An area of low pressure will move across the southwest on thursday bringing stonger winds to the area. Wind speeds of 15-25 mph and gust of 30-40 mph are expected. Combined with very low relative humidity will create critical fire weather conditions. Therefore the National Weather Service has forecasted a Fire Weather Watch for Thursday.
