YOUNG, Ariz. – There was no growth on the Poco Fire last night; the fire remains at 11,950 acres with containment unchanged at 35 percent. Resources will be made available each day for reassignment to other fires as containment lines continue to hold and workload decreases on the fire.
Crews will continue to patrol, mop-up and rehabilitate fire lines that were impacted by suppression activities. These actions will reduce erosion and restore roadways and facilities.
“As we continue to meet our objectives, firefighters will need to remain focused on the mission,” said Incident Commander Matt Reidy. Hazards to crews still exist in spite of the decrease in fire activity including thunderstorm activity, falling trees, stump holes, steep terrain, and rolling rocks.
There are 768 firefighters assigned to the incident including 11 hotshot crews, eight twenty-person crews, 28 engines, seven dozers, 20 water tenders, and three helicopters.
FR 512 remains closed between FR 291 and FR 200, the Chamberlin Trail. In addition, a portion of the ranger district is closed east of FR 200, south of FR 291 and north of FR 512.
