Springerville, August 16, 2019 – For Immediate Release – Arizona Game and Fish Department proposes to install an Aeration System at Luna Lake on the Alpine Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs). The purpose of the Aerator System will be to improve water quality during summer months by maintaining adequate dissolved oxygen (DO) to help prevent fish kills.
Navopache Electric Cooperative (NEC) would extend the powerlines to the proposed location of the Aerator building. The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Alpine Ranger District, would authorize a 20-year term Special Use Permit to Arizona Game and Fish Department for the proposed Aeration System.
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests is seeking your comments on this proposal to ensure ASNFs staff consider all reasonably foreseeable impacts potentially associated with the proposed action, as well as, potential benefits; and to enable members of the public to participate in ASNFs activities in order to help best manage Forest resources.
