Hughey Fire on Ft. Apache Reservation

Whiteriver, Arizona: The lightning-caused Hughey Fire was detected late yesterday evening, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. The fire is located 25 miles east of Whiteriver and 4 miles southwest of Reservation Lake. The fire is currently at 21 acres and burning in mixed-conifer with heavy dead and down logs. The fire was smoldering with low flame lengths. Today, fire personnel will scout the area and secure the south end of the fire and a dozer will improve the road access into the fire area.
