Flash Flood Watch Remains In Effect Today

8/26/14 – A trough of low pressure combined with deep subtropical moisture is forecast to bring numerous showers and thunderstorms to northern Arizona today through late tonight. Heavy rain will be the greatest threat which could lead to areas of flooding. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the following areas: the Grand Canyon, Mogollon rim, and Whit eMountains also southward into Yavapai and Northern Gila Counties. The combination of strengthening winds and instability will bring the threat of strong thunderstorms that could potentially produce large hail and damaging winds.

A Flash Flood Watch means that developing conditions may lead to flash flooding within the watch area. People, especially those located along area creeks, rivers or other flash flood prone areas should continue to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
