Bagnal Fire Update-USFS Apache-Sitgreaves Forest

Springerville, AZ., August 1, 2019 — For Immediate Release. The lighting-caused Bagnal Wildfire was discovered Friday, July 26, 2019 is burning on the Lakeside Ranger District of the Apache – Sitgreaves National Forests. The Bagnal Wildfire which has burned 2200 acres of grass and ponderosa pine, is now 50% contained.
The wildfire is located one mile southwest of Show Low and is bordered on the east by Forest Service road 140, on the north and west by FSR 136 & 300 to the south. The Bagnal Wildfire has received precipitation this week from showers and thunderstorms which has slowed the growth of the wildfire. Fire managers expect the Bagnal Wildfire to receive even more precipitation within the next few days, reducing the amount of smoke and fire intensity toward the end of the week.
Because the Bagnal Wildfire is close to its preplanned perimeter, smoke is expected to lessen significantly within the next few days. Fire managers do not expect the duration of the fire last much longer. There is minimal fire behavior over the majority of the Bagnal Wildfire and it poses no danger to structures or other local infrastructure. Showers and thunderstorms are likely through the end of the week and may influence the use of firing operations within the perimeter.
